Astera
Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 8, 2026
Astera exists to read your chart, not to harvest your data. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect and why.
What we collect
- Identifiers — your first name, email address and, optionally, your phone number.
- Birth details — date, time and place of birth, and the life area you want your reading focused on. These are the inputs a chart requires; we treat them as sensitive and use them for nothing else.
- Your note to the astrologer — if you choose to leave one after purchase, its text is stored with your request so Julia can read it before writing.
- Another person’s birth details — only if you order a Compatibility reading: the name, birth date, time and place of the person you enter, used solely to write that reading. Please enter them only with that person’s knowledge.
- Payment information — handled entirely by our payment processor. We never see or store your card details; we receive only confirmation that a payment happened.
- Technical data — to protect the quiz from automated abuse we keep a one-way salted hash of the submitting IP address (the address itself is never stored) and standard server logs kept briefly by our hosting provider. If advertising measurement is active for your visit (see below), the pixel provider records internet-activity data under its own policy.
How we use it
To calculate your charts, to let our astrologer write your personal reading, to deliver it by email and your private link, to answer your messages, to prevent fraud and abuse, and to measure whether our advertising works. We may also send you up to two short emails about your reading: a reminder a day after you calculate your chart if you haven’t ordered, and, after an Essential reading, an offer to upgrade it. Our team may also write to you personally: about your reading options if you calculated a chart but haven’t ordered, or about other readings (for example a Year Ahead or Compatibility reading) if you have, and keeps brief notes of those conversations. Every such email has an unsubscribe link; emails about a reading you’ve paid for always arrive. That’s the whole list. We do not sell personal information, and we never will.
Who processes it for us
Your data is handled by infrastructure providers acting as our processors, each only to provide their service: Vercel (website hosting), Supabase (database), Resend and Namecheap Private Email (email delivery and our mailbox), and our card-payment processor (named at checkout). These providers may process data in the United States and the European Union under their standard contractual safeguards.
Advertising measurement and your opt-out
To know whether our advertising performs, we may use the Meta pixel on our public pages (never on your personal page or report). When you start a checkout or buy a reading, our server may also tell Meta that it happened, with the amount, the Meta browser identifiers already set on your device, your browser’s user agent, and your email address and our order number in hashed (one-way encrypted) form, so Meta can match the purchase to the ad you saw. Privacy laws in California and a number of other US states call this “sharing” of personal information for cross-context advertising, and give you the right to opt out. We honor that right automatically: if your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, the pixel never loads and no events about your visit or purchase are sent — no forms, no clicks required. You can verify your status and read more on the Your Privacy Choices page, or email us and we’ll apply the opt-out for you. Opting out never changes the service you receive.
Cookies
The public site works without tracking cookies of our own; a technical cookie is used only for administrator login. If the advertising pixel is active for your visit, it sets its own cookies subject to Meta’s policies and your device and ad settings.
How long we keep it
Your personal page and report are designed to stay available to you over time, so we retain your data until you ask us to remove it. Anti-abuse hashes and logs are kept only as long as they are useful for security.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to stop its sharing for advertising, by writing to hello@astera.is from the address you used — we act on requests promptly and don’t require anything beyond confirming the address is yours. If your jurisdiction grants additional rights (for example under the GDPR: portability, restriction, objection, and complaint to a supervisory authority), we honor those too.
Age
Astera is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18; if that has happened, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above will change with it. Material changes will be noted on this page.
